VOYCE is working to make Missouri safer for older and vulnerable adults!
Working in partnership with citizens, state and local departments, churches, not for profits corporations, and others, our goal is to ensure a system that responds to the abuses our older and vulnerable citizens face. VOYCE is convening in-person and virtual sessions to identify the obstacles that may prevent achieving the best outcomes for our citizens. Funded by a grant for the Missouri Foundation for Health, we will work together to identify obstacles and propose solutions, develop potential policy and legislative changes and create a strategic vision and plan that will continue to support our citizens.
Summit to Protect Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities
This summit is a conversation with the community, professionals, older adults, and others to learn what needs to be fixed in the adult protection system.
Upcoming Summit Conversations
Summit #4 – June 18, 2024 – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This fourth summit continues the conversation on how to improve the response of the system to older adults and adults with disabilities impacted by abuse. We will share information from prior summits and a draft strategic plan based on summit participants’ top issues and recommendations. Attendance at prior summits is not required to join this one.

Survey for Those Personally Impacted By Elder Abuse
VOYCE, with our partner, UMKC, is interviewing people about their experience reporting abuse. With funding granted by the Missouri Foundation for Health, we are looking to you to provide information about your experiences with the system (social services, advocates, law enforcement, healthcare, etc.) that will help us reshape the current approach to one that is more responsive to the needs of its users.
The trauma-informed interview is conducted by trained social workers that will ask questions about your experience with the various organizations you encountered following your report. We will not ask questions about the abuse you experienced. We will only ask about what happened during your interactions with the organizations in the system and your thoughts on those interactions.
We are seeking those aged 60 or older who have experienced financial, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse and/or neglect. There will be a $100 gift card for participants as well as 3 free counseling sessions. Please contact us if you are interested in participating or for more information.
