2023 Project Holiday Cheer

Project Holiday Cheer returns for 2023!

Project Holiday Cheer is an opportunity for individuals of all ages to impact long-term care residents’ lives positively. Getting involved is as simple as signing, creating, or delivering holiday cards. A simple act of kindness is an immeasurable value.

VOYCE is seeking support from our community members and partnering organizations to provide 40,000 greeting cards throughout the Greater St. Louis, Northeastern Missouri, and Illinois regions. Your thoughtfulness is a great way to give back, pay it forward, and share in the spirit of the holiday season. Join Project Holiday Cheer and help ensure the act of giving is present throughout our great community.

VOYCE is accepting holiday card donations now and throughout the year. If you have questions or would like to learn more, please call our office and learn how to get involved. If you are in Illinois, reach out to Senior Services Plus to learn more.

How to Get Involved in Project Holiday Cheer

Role: Sign up for project holiday cheer, then sign up for a nursing home (or multiple) to deliver them to. When signing up, you will be able to see the Zip Code and Number of Residents of a facility. We will send you the rest of the facility’s information upon confirmation. You can then purchase or create cards, sign them, and then you’re ready to deliver. We ask that all cards are delivered to your assigned nursing home by December 22, 2023. If you do not live in the Greater St. Louis, Northeastern Missouri, or Illinois regions, you can still get involved! Rather than deliver, consider mailing cards to a nursing home of your choice.

Role: Once cards are delivered to VOYCE’s office by other volunteers, your role is to sort the cards, then deliver them to a location that’s convenient for you. Sorting entails checking cards to ensure that the content fits within our guidelines, then counting and grouping them for delivery. Sign up for a time to come to VOYCE’s office and sort cards, and sign up for a nursing home to deliver them to. You do not have to sort cards and deliver them on the same day, but we ask that all cards are delivered to nursing homes by December 22, 2023. If you do not live in the Greater St. Louis, Northeastern Missouri, or Illinois regions, you can still get involved! Rather than deliver, consider mailing cards to a nursing home of your choice.

This position is available in October 2023. Role: Once cards are delivered to VOYCE’s office by other volunteers, your role is to sort the cards. Sorting entails checking cards to ensure that the content fits within our guidelines, then counting and grouping them for delivery. Sign up for a time to come to VOYCE’s office and sort cards.

Role: Buy or create cards, sign them, and deliver them to VOYCE’s Office or Partner Locations. VOYCE’s office is located at 8050 Watson Road, Suite 155, St. Louis, MO, 63119. More information on partner locations to come. We ask that you deliver cards to VOYCE’s Office or Partner Locations by December 1, 2023.

We encourage individuals, community groups, schools, and businesses to get involved in this fantastic community project, showing long-term care residents that we are thinking of them. Every greeting card warms a heart and brings a smile.

Guidelines for Volunteers

Number of Cards

The project’s goal is to ensure all nursing home residents in the Greater St. Louis, Northeastern Missouri, and Illinois regions receive holiday cards. That makes it our goal to collect 40,000 cards! Based on how many cards you and your group plan to make, you can be matched with a long-term care facility or two with a similar number of residents. How many you make is up to you!

Making and Purchasing Cards

The cards can be either made or purchased, either way, we encourage you to put your personal touch into the cards.

Messaging Within Cards

Residents of long-term care are widely diverse and may not celebrate the same holidays as you. Please use neutral sentiments such as ‘Seasons Greetings’ or ‘Happy Holidays.’ You are free to write more about the sentiment of the project, which is to celebrate the holiday season with long-term care residents and remind them that they are not alone.

Envelopes

If your card includes an envelope, please do not seal it. If you are creating cards from scratch, they are not required to come with envelopes.

When Delivering to VOYCE Office/Partner Locations:

Our partner locations are any Scott Credit Union branch and any St. Louis County Library branch. To help with packing for card deliveries, please bundle the cards in stacks of 20, and write the number of cards donated clearly on your packaging or on a note.
