In this informative session, Chien Hung will discuss the importance of recognizing the sexual rights of older adults as an essential part of their dignity and human rights.

Hung will touch on the ethical principles around sexual freedom and autonomy in nursing home settings. Attendees will learn about the evaluation of sexual capacity and cognitive abilities to consent to sexual activity and understand the role of staff in ensuring informed consent, particularly in cases of dementia or other cognitive impairments.

Additionally, Hung will provide guidance on how nursing home professionals can discuss safer sex with residents in an age-appropriate and respectful manner, including hygiene, STD prevention, and communication about sexual health.

This session, presented by Chien Hung, is designed to equip long-term care staff with the knowledge and skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Participants will learn to identify the various signs and forms of abuse that can occur in long-term care environments, including physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse. The training will cover essential reporting requirements and the ethical responsibilities healthcare workers have in ensuring the safety and dignity of older adults and people with disabilities.

September 16, 2025, at 1 pm- Zoom

In this professional education session, Chien Hung will guide nursing home staff through best practices for infection control in long-term care settings.

The session will focus on strategies for managing common infections like the flu and COVID-19, addressing sexually transmitted infections, and preventing and responding to bed bug infestations.

Participants will gain practical knowledge on infection prevention, implementing and enforcing infection control policies, and maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff during infectious disease outbreaks. Through case studies and actionable guidelines, Hung will help staff understand their role in reducing transmission risk and ensuring nursing home populations’ ongoing health and safety.
