It’s Back! VOYCE, Senior Services Plus, and Scott Credit Union are joining forces again to collect holiday cards for nursing home residents in St. Louis, Northeast Missouri, and Illinois. With your help, every long-term care resident will receive a holiday card. Better yet, each resident will know that the community wishes them well throughout the holiday season. Together, we can show our community’s kindness and support to those who need it most.

Share the Spirit by Making Holiday Cards for Nursing Home Residents

Everyone is welcome to contribute towards Project Holiday Cheer. The COVID-19 public health emergency officially ended earlier this year. Despite that, we know older adults are still experiencing pandemic levels of social isolation and loneliness . According to The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care, “Chronic loneliness is associated with multiple adverse medical and mental health conditions. It can increase the risk of developing dementia by nearly 50% in older adults and is a risk factor for deaths from all causes.”

Residents said receiving messages from people who care strengthens social connections and fights loneliness. By creating holiday cards for nursing home residents with kind and supportive messages, you show them that you care too! Personally delivering the cards is a nice touch that goes above and beyond.

Your thoughtfulness is a fantastic way to give back, pay it forward, and share the holiday spirit of generosity.

New Ways to Help This Season

While our mission stays the same, we have some exciting changes to announce!

This year, you can help in even more ways than before! You can create and sign cards, deliver them, or both. Because of the massive number of cards we get, we also need help checking, counting, and sorting this year.
