VOYCE is a leading nonprofit organization in Eastern Missouri. We provide long-term care ombudsman services, offer information and referral services, and educate those seeking long-term care solutions. We are advocates for better long-term care and systems for elder justice.

Position Overview

As the Southeast Missouri Regional Ombudsman Coordinator, you’ll promote and protect residents’ rights, dignity, safety, and quality of life in long-term care facilities.

This role is a 30-hour per week part-time position with benefits, reporting to the Program Director and working closely with our current team of five ROCs. The territory for this team member is expected to be within 100 miles of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Visit assigned long-term care communities within 100 miles of Poplar Bluff, MO to resolve complaints.
  • Provide services to protect residents and their interests.
  • Visit all long-term care facilities in the ombudsman’s coverage area no less than quarterly.
  • Provide information and assistance regarding long-term care issues and the needs and rights of residents.
  • Manage files, resident records, and other information about the Program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, Master’s preferred.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including comfort on the phone and with presentations.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check and COVID and flu vaccines are recommended.
  • Negotiation and problem-resolution skills.
  • Personal life experience with long-term care or knowledge of the industry landscape.
  • Experience as a volunteer for a nonprofit organization.
  • Understanding of institutional racism’s effect on health outcomes.

Compensation and Work Conditions

The pay rate for this position is $20-23 per hour, depending on education and relevant experience. Benefits include PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, short-term disability insurance, and a Simple IRA. While your work will be based out of your home, this position requires in-person work with residents of long-term care communities several times per week.
